Plot It is current day, to this exact date. The Karnstein clan is a band of vampires who chose to live in an ordered manner among the many rogues now plaquing the world. It has become increasingly hard to hide the evidence of vampirism these days, what with so many of them coming out in public. It is the clan that has taken it upon themselves to clean up the mess the others are leaving behind by using the endless rakings in of profits by stocks and bonds. Luckily much of this underground hysteria can be covered up by excuses of modern medicine...plainly stating someone is crazed or has a hormonal imbalance. The clan spends their everfree time fighting this cause and also making developements in technology and medicine along the way. It isn't to say they do this for the good of the people, but more for the good of their own privacy. Luckily by the years of profit, as well as many under the table deals with the government on developing technology and the prior listed, they are able to go on with their mission in what peace they can. On the otherside of this fight are the rogues. Those who wish to be heard and make themselves known. These are either the bullheaded elders who believe the world is their cattlefarm, or the young who want a change. They believe that they should not have to hide by the cover of night; they should dominate and be the prominant species in this living world. Frustrated by the constant meddlings of the clan this feud continues to grow. The only thing holding it back these days are the ties the elders have with the inner circle, and the loyalties that their cultures hold so high. Yet the younger generation continues to be a constant burden. Their is no order for a newly sired vampire to have a teaching before being cut loose. The blood letting from one to another is becoming more of an addiction than a right, causing a huge leap in number. Lastly we have the mortals, the humans, who are continually caught in the middle of all of this. There are those who walk blindly to what is happening around then, and then there are those who have seen it first hand and now live in fear that they will be the next victim for their knowledge.
About Karnstein Abbey Located in northeastern Massachusetts, it was commissioned to be built by the elder Albric Karnstein in the year 1709, the small townhome grew to be a safehaven for the newly sired. Many priceless items were given in thanks to this vampuric savior for his knowledge and protection. Slowly the home became what it is today, a haven for those wanting a more grounded lifestyle, a vault for much desired and 'lost' items, as well as a veretable fortress that is all but inpenitrable. Each occupant is drilled with the practice of mechanical, weapons, knowledge and self skills to defend its privacy along with its well being. As dearly as the rogues would love to lay seige upon the abbey, they know it would be nothing short of suicide to do so.
About Albric Karnstein Sired on the November 3rd, 1253 at the ripe age of thirty three, he was one of the oldest living vampires in his time. A sturdy man of nearly seven feet and two hundred and eighty pounds, he commanded respect by all, mortal or not. From an early age he had been an entrepreneur at any rate. His blood being pure by vampuric means gave him incredibly keen senses and an even sharper mind. With these abilities in hand he began stocking materials, items, and certificates of property his lists of wealth grew vastly and quickly. It was in the year 1698 when the talk of America was sweeping the lands that he stored away all of his belongings upon a vessel, claimed the currency for his rights to land, and set off to America. Finally in the year 1708, ten years afterward that he was fully rid of England, all but for a few hundred years of memories. From here you know about his efforts to provide a safe place for his kind. It is from this point that you do not know what became of Albric. In 1903 he disappeared into his study for nearly three months, finally emerging a bit weathered and frailer than any had ever seen him. Left to their possession were ten massive volumes, each with miniscule writing, directions, instructions and maps as to all of his precious belongings. Stated where when, where and how to obtain them. Finally he signed his whole unlifes work over to the second highest elder, giving her detailed instructions of when to read the volumes (which they have done so since). It was that they simply thought he was taking precaution...they however did not realize it would be an immediate precaution. Not one week after all of these arrangements were settled that Albric Karnstein vanished from all existence, leaving only his legacy behind for the benefits of those he held dear.
The leader of the circle has since then taken it upon herself to hold Karnsteins memory true and live up to his name in the years thereafter. It is said whever he went, whether to eternal slumber or the final afterlife that the best of his essence stayed with his apprentice.
